Selected artist profile information for this British Sculptor
AboutNicola Beattie started carving in London at Wimbledon Art College in 1987. Her work is inclined to the monumental style where mass and form are the main considerations. The stone carvings are influenced by Jacob Epstein and Eric Gill, also partly by the Shona tribe sculpture - her tutor at college was Glynn Williams, now head of the Royal College of Art. |

Artist StatementHaving specialised in carving in both stone and wood at Art College, Nicola now works in a variety of media although carving in stone remains her true preference. Alongside the stone she works on abstract mixed media pieces which take their inspiration from organic forms in Nature. Nicola's main work is for the exterior although she has also made a number of small wildlife bronzes. Rhythm and fluidity are essential to her work which has been exhibited regularly throughout the UK, mainly in London and also abroad. | |
